Twelfth Night at the 2009 Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival.

TWELFTH NIGHT:

"Green's music not only enlivens "Twelfth Night" with its use of Russian and Gypsy folk melodies and dance rhythms — Bell has set "Twelfth Night" in 1906 Russia — it also gives the actors a template for pacing and phrasing that makes Shakespeare's dialogue sound contemporary and natural. Edmonds, in particular, shines with his resonant tenor voice, while the ensemble harmonies and onstage instrumental work of the actors warmth and power." ~ South Bend Tribune

● "[The show gets] a major assist from... the original music by music director Daniel Green. His melodies support several of the play’s best known speeches (”O Mistress mine…”) as well as serving to set the scene. Music and musicians are well integrated, moving the action along both smoothly and lyrically." ~ Marcia Marcia

FANNY BRICE:

● "[Green's score includes] a full-out chilling rendition of the torch song, Aggravatin’ Man." ~ Palm Beach Post

WAA-MU:

●  "Of particular note were the excellent compositions by Dan Green, a Music senior who contributed for his fourth and last time this year. His piece “The Architect” gave a lyrical break from the flashy dance numbers, and the catchy, upbeat “Purple Coast” was a blast, particularly if its suggestion that to succeed after college all you “gotta do is say [you’re] from NU” turns out to be accurate." ~ North by Northwestern

● "One of the performance’s best moments came in the second-to-last song, 'What Happens Now,' when the Waa-Mu seniors put on their NU purple and sang about their upcoming graduation. It was too sincere to resist." ~ North by Northwestern
